Would you prayerfully consider being a blessing?…
You’ve heard me say it time and time again…we are blessed to be a blessing…
As a church that is over 100 years old, we have experienced an abundance of God’s blessings here in our little community of Greenbrier. And with God’s blessings come opportunities to be a blessing to others. For the past couple of years our staff and church board have constantly been looking for ways to be a blessing. It’s in the DNA of Greenbrier Nazarene. It’s what we do. It’s who we are. We are constantly pouring our time, effort and resources into others.
Jesus lived this out for us while He was here and gave us a beautiful example of how it should look. Greenbrier Nazarene has followed his example for decades, and we have been the recipients of so many blessings because of it.
Many of you are aware that we have been prayerfully planning and preparing for how we might continue to be a blessing to young families and children of our community.
We have partnered with schools to be a blessing to students and faculty. We have partnered with Soaring Wings to be a blessing to the “least of these”. In the past year we have hired a new Children’s Ministry Director, Amanda Odom. She is doing a tremendous job of organizing and leading all of our children’s ministries along with the teamwork of the rest of our staff and countless volunteers. More blessings! We continue to see young couples with small children coming to our church because of the investment we are making into their lives.
A few months back, we took a step of faith with a vision of building a new Worship Center for our children that we’ve been called to disciple. We presented a proposed plan to the church body and our membership approved our board’s plans to go forward. Since that vote, we’ve been finalizing the plans with our architect and engineers. We are excited that we now have a finalized plan for getting started!
As I shared this past Sunday, we are blessed to be living in a time that is experiencing great economic growth in our country. But with the blessing of a strong economy, comes the inflation of prices and cost of services. All of the bids that we received for this project were significantly higher than the original projection we had received when we began the process over a year ago. Your pastor, staff and board have worked tirelessly and diligently to redesign and cut as much as we felt we could possibly cut to reduce costs from this project. Unfortunately, the current project still comes in significantly more than the original projections that we received.
In our September board meeting, our board voted unanimously to go forward with this project with NBMC being the general contractor. You should begin seeing work done very soon on this project and we are so excited to see what God is going to do in the days ahead as we work to build his Kingdom! We do not plan to borrow any more money than was originally approved by the vote of our membership but we also understand that amount will probably not be sufficient for us to complete the project.
Although we’ll be beginning construction as soon as our contractor can begin, I announced Sunday that we are going to begin a building fund campaign to raise additional funds. We are simply asking that you pray about it. Join us in prayerfully asking God how you can be a blessing by making a donation toward this project.
This is a much-needed addition to our facilities as we continue to experience growth of young families with small children. And not only do we need to add this space designated for a worship area for our children, but any additional funds that come in will be used to update (paint, flooring, etc.) our 20 year old Family Life Center.
You can make donations from your phone on the GN app, online on our website, or you can donate by cash or check (be sure to earmark it BUILDING FUND).
As your pastor I want to thank you for your faithfulness in the past and encourage you to pray sincerely about how God could use you to be a blessing toward this exciting project
I believe with your help…the best is yet to come for our children and our beautiful church family. We have been blessed to be a blessing!
